“It worked great,” Aniston said.

In her final interview on Tea Ellen DeGeneres Show, she recalled being Ellen’s very first guest in 2003 – when she gave the new host a symbolic ‘welcome’ doormat.

“I remember I didn’t have a stylist. I wore a pair of 7 jeans and a white tank top … handing you that gosh dang welcome mat, that’s just never here,” the We’re The Millers actress said.

“Gosh, that first show, we really kinda set the tone for some extraordinary television for the next 19 years.”

The 53-year-old then gifted DeGeneres another doormat, this time reading, ‘Thanks for the memories’.

The word Ellen was banned from saying

In DeGeneres’ final episode, she let viewers in on a secret from the start of the show, revealing the word she was not allowed to say.

“I couldn’t say ‘gay’ on the show. I was not allowed to say ‘gay’, “the TV presenter told her audience.

“I said it at home a lot. ‘What are we having for gay breakfast?’ Or ‘pass the gay salt.’ ‘Has anyone seen the gay remote?’ – things like that, ”she said.

DeGeneres added she was banned from saying ‘we’ or ‘wife’ on the show, as it implied she was with someone.

“That’s because it wasn’t legal for gay people to get married,” she said.

“Now I say wife all the time.”

DeGeneres married Australian Portia de Rossi, now 49, in 2008 soon after California legalized gay marriage.
